How our water damage information is researched and checked
Everything on this site is meant to help someone with water in their home make a safer, better-informed decision. This policy explains how pages are researched, what sources are used, and how mistakes are corrected.
Sources
Which sources we rely on
We rely first on public agencies and standards bodies: the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for mold and flood cleanup, Ready.gov and the National Weather Service for safety, the IICRC S500 standard for how restoration work is classified, and Delaware agencies such as DNREC and the Department of Insurance for local flood planning and consumer information. For local history and geography we use public references such as Wikipedia, university research centers and regional news reporting.
Each article lists its sources at the bottom, and numbered citations in the text point to them. When a source does not support a claim, the claim is changed or removed.
Rules
Rules every page follows
- No invented factsNo made-up statistics, reviews, testimonials, licenses or local job stories.
- Honest about the modelThe site is a call-in referral service; pages never imply that we do the work.
- Coverage onlyWe name only communities in the contractor network's covered ZIP codes.
- Safety firstElectrical, gas and floodwater hazards are stated plainly, with advice to call 911 or the utility when needed.
- Own wordsPages are written in our own words, not copied from sources.
- No estimatesWe do not publish estimates for any work; ask the contractor directly.
Review
Review and updates
Pages are reviewed when sources change, when we learn of an error, or when coverage changes. The date a page was last updated is recorded in its page data. Updates change the content; we do not change dates without changing the page.
AI-generated images on this site are illustrative and do not show real local jobs or real customers.
